We are delighted to announce an exciting opportunity to join our OFSTED Outstanding Special School in a period of rapid development. Briarwood has a dedicated team of staff, governors and parents/carers who are proud to support 167, rising to 233 in September 2026, children and young people aged 3 to 19 years and are passionate about their progress, happiness and care.
We are seeking a caring, enthusiastic, and dedicated Complex Needs Co-ordinator to join our special school team. To support the educational, personal, and social development of pupils with complex needs across the school, but particularly at the Junior site (Fishponds). This role involves working closely with the Assistant Headteacher for Complex Needs, the Head of Provision and the Head of Inclusion, and other school staff to ensure the needs of pupils are met through robust support systems and effective communication with professionals and families.
- Support the educational, personal, and social development of pupils with complex needs across the school, but particularly at the Junior and Nexus site (Fishponds).
- Coordinate and monitor provision for pupils with complex and multiple needs across the school.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff, therapists, nurses, and external agencies to ensure effective multidisciplinary support.
- Developing, implementing, and monitoring effective support plans.
- Respond to behaviour and medical crisis alerts as necessary.
- Foster parental engagement and family link strategies.
The role is a permanent post, 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.45am to 3.45pm, term time only. Term time only, working 39 weeks (including 5 inset days), 13 weeks school holidays of which 6.6 weeks paid as annual leave. No entitlement to annual leave during term. Salary dependent on Local Government continuous service.
