The Bristol Royal Hospital for Children is the South West's regional paediatric major trauma centre. We have 9 operating theatres covering a wide range of specialities including Cardiac, Neuro, Trauma, Burns, CEPOD and Plastics. We are looking for an experienced RN/ODP who can lead and support a developing theatre team within BRHC. The role involves working closely with the Theatre Matron and other unit theatre leads, combining clinical expertise with managerial responsibilities. An advanced qualification and experience practising within an operating theatre are essential.

Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the 24‑hour care delivery and management of the operating theatre department.
  • Provide professional day‑to‑day clinical leadership and operational management of the department.
  • Ensure delivery of high quality, responsive, safe, efficient and compassionate care.
  • Support the Theatre Matron in developing the service.
  • Act as a leader and role model, adopting a flexible approach in a role encompassing leadership, management and clinical responsibilities.
  • Demonstrate pride in work and enthusiasm for quality of care, welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Hold relevant RN/ODP qualification and have sufficient experience to provide strong, knowledgeable leadership.
  • Experience practising within an operating theatre is advantageous.
  • High level of organisational skill, resourceful and professional approach to work.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to forge and maintain positive relationships with a variety of clinical and non‑clinical staff.
