Starting September 2026

Are you a Speech and Language Therapist looking to make a genuine impact in a specialist independent school setting? Want to be part of a brand new provision where your input will help shape how support is delivered from day one? If so, this could be a really exciting opportunity.

We’re looking for a dedicated and compassionate Speech and Language Therapist to join a brand new, purpose‑built specialist independent secondary school opening this September in Manchester. You’ll play a key role in supporting students aged 11–18 who require additional help with communication, interaction, and language development. This is a unique opportunity to be part of a smaller, more personalised setting — where you’ll have the time, resources, and support to truly make a difference.

About The Role

You’ll assess, plan, and deliver tailored speech and language interventions to support students with a range of needs. Working both one-to-one and in small groups, you’ll help students develop their communication skills, confidence, and ability to engage in learning. You’ll also work closely with teaching staff, SEN professionals, and leadership — providing guidance, strategies, and training to ensure communication support is embedded across the school. This is a varied, hands‑on role where your input will directly shape both individual student outcomes and the wider provision.

What's On Offer
  • Competitive salary (dependent on experience and qualifications)
  • September start date
  • Easily accessible Manchester location with great transport links
  • The opportunity to shape the Speech and Language provision in a brand new specialist independent school
  • Smaller class sizes and a more personalised approach to support
  • A supportive and forward‑thinking leadership team
  • Modern, purpose‑built facilities designed around student needs
  • A highly rewarding role where you can make a meaningful impact every day
  • Ongoing professional development opportunities
About You

We’re looking for someone who brings both the right qualifications and a strong, student‑centred approach:

  • A recognised qualification in Speech and Language Therapy
  • QTS - Qualified Teacher Status
  • Experience supporting children with SEMH
  • Registration with the HCPC (or working towards it)
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally within a specialist or independent school setting
  • Strong understanding of a range of communication needs, including speech, language, and social communication difficulties
  • Experience supporting students with Special Educational Needs (SEN)
  • A patient, empathetic, and adaptable approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
Bonus points if you have
  • Experience in specialist or alternative provision settings
  • Knowledge of trauma‑informed or therapeutic approaches
  • Experience delivering staff training or supporting classroom strategies
  • Confidence working as part of a multidisciplinary team

This is more than just a therapist role - it’s an opportunity to help build a specialist provision from the ground up. In an independent setting, you’ll have greater flexibility and influence over how support is delivered, allowing you to create meaningful, lasting change for students who need it most. If you’re a Speech and Language Therapist ready for a fresh and rewarding challenge, we’d love to hear from you.
