We are looking for 3 new members to join the NICE Indicator Advisory Committee, which advises NICE on the prioritisation, development and potential implementation of healthcare quality indicators across the health system. We are particularly looking for the following:
- Community Pharmacist
- Primary care Practice Manager
- GP Partner
We require candidates with a genuine interest in, and enthusiasm for, how quality indicators can drive better care and improved outcomes. This is a fantastic opportunity to contribute to a high‑performing, multidisciplinary NICE committee, playing a key role in developing nationally and internationally influential indicators that support meaningful improvement across the health system.
Remuneration: Committee member position is unpaid. NICE will pay reasonable out‑of‑pocket expenses such as train fares and hotel costs for attending committee meetings, and reimburse locum backfill for committee members working in NHS general practice where a locum is needed to allow their attendance.
Responsibilities: Committee members are expected to attend 5 days of meetings per year (three single‑day meetings and one two‑day meeting). Meetings are predominantly virtual, with one face‑to‑face meeting a year. Committee members agree to:
- Set aside sufficient time to attend committee meetings and use their knowledge to inform indicator development.
- Raise concerns about process or draft indicators within the committee and work to resolve them with support from the NICE Indicators team.
- Contribute positively to the committee and indicator development.
- Take full account of the evidence in developing indicators and consider the analysis prepared by the evidence review team.
- Act professionally, show good manners, be courteous and impartial, and use public funds responsibly.
- Read and adhere to NICE’s Principles, policies on hospitality, declarations of interests, travel and subsistence, and values of equality, diversity, inclusion, dignity and respect.
Benefits & Reimbursement: NICE will reimburse reasonable out‑of‑pocket expenses including train fares and hotel costs for attending committee meetings. The non‑staff reimbursement policy also covers costs for carers or support workers who accompany members to meetings, such as childcare or care of a family member with a disability.
Commitment: Committee members are expected to devote 5 days a year across meetings, allow flexibility for times of attendance, and maintain the highest standards of conduct expected in public life and service while on NICE duty.
