Prospero Teaching are an approved National Tutoring Programme provider and we are additionally partnered with the local authorities and mainstream and specialist SEND schools across Somerset. We are specialists in providing qualified and experienced tutors to work with children from the ages of 4-18 for a range of different tutoring programmes.
We provide support to students in looked after care (LAC/CLA), pupils in mainstream schools that require additional educational support, young people who are not currently accessing mainstream education, and students with SEND/SEMH that require specialist 1:1 support. We are looking to appoint new tutors to our growing team of specialists across the Somerset area. If you are passionate about making a difference, please get in touch.
THE TUTOR ROLE - £25-30 per hour
- Tutoring sessions can take place both face-to-face and online.
- We provide support to students of all ages from 4-18 years old.
- Sessions take place in a range of settings including the student's home, their school, and sometimes in local communal spaces (e.g. local library).
- The subjects delivered mainly include the core subjects (Maths, English and Science) but sometimes additional subjects are requested.
- We deliver a range of programmes from catch up sessions to complete alternative provision in which you will be the sole provider of the child's education whilst they are out of a mainstream setting.
- Once you have been assigned to work with a student, you will receive the student's academic information and their EHCP (if relevant).
- Tutors will work mainly 1:1 with the students but there are some group tuition sessions available.
- Knowledge of the student's ability and targets for education will be provided, but you will be expected to gather your own resources and deliver the curriculum you deem fit based upon your assessment on the student's ability.
- You can pick up anywhere from 2-30 hours per week depending on your availability.
- Tutoring can be completely flexible based around your current availability.
- Common locations include Taunton, Bridgwater, Glastonbury, Shepton Mallett, Wellington, Yeovil, Wells, etc.
TUTOR REQUIREMENTS
- Qualified Teacher Status
- An Enhanced Child DBS
- Safeguarding & Prevent Training Certificate
- At least 6 months of UK teaching experience in your subject specialism
- Experience working with students with SEND/SEMH
- Full UK Driving License
