Salary: £37-£42,000 depending on experience.

Location: Based in Somerset & Devon regions.

Main duties:

  • Experience required in working with Looked After Children and young people with varying clinical needs.
  • Knowledge of theory and practice of therapeutic interventions with children and young people.
  • Ability to assess, intervene and manage a range of mental health needs including trauma.
  • Partnership working to support placement objectives, care planning and progression, including regular clinical reporting and routine outcome measures.

About us:

We are a multidisciplinary mental health team within an integrated residential Children’s Service. The successful candidate will support emotional wellbeing, mental health and placement stability for looked after young people who have experienced significant adverse childhood experiences and sexual exploitation.

Job responsibilities:

  • You will work within an existing multidisciplinary team that includes mental health practitioners, education professionals and operational staff.
  • You will support residential homes by delivering a combined clinical consultative and direct therapeutic service for Looked After young people in community residential settings.
  • Responsibilities include assessing needs, providing consultation, supervision and training for residential and care staff, co-ordinating care planning and management in partnership with the team, and delivering direct therapeutic work.

Candidate profile:

Essential requirements:

  • Experience with Looked After Children and young people.
  • Knowledge of therapeutic interventions for children and young people.
  • Assessment, intervention and management of mental health needs including trauma.
  • Partnership working with placement objectives and care planning.
  • Ability to provide regular clinical reporting and utilise routine outcome measures.
  • Registration with the relevant professional body (HCPC, NMC, SWE, BACP) and (where applicable) CAMHS experience.
  • Relevant qualifications enabling you to offer children’s therapy when required.
  • Strong team player with excellent communication, organisational and time management skills.
