Neighbourhood Services Job description

37 hours per week

The role of the Civil Enforcement Officer is to provide an efficient and effective service of parking enforcement both on street and off street. In accordance with Council's objectives, procedures and policies, your role will be to prevent illegal parking of vehicles as well as ensuring that valid pay & display tickets are displayed and to issue Penalty Charge Notices as necessary.

You will be responsible for opening & closing the various car parks as required. In addition, you will ensure the parking infrastructure of the towns remain in serviceable condition by the reporting of defects. You will be expected to carry out patrols on foot or by driving the mobile enforcement camera car, and patrols will be across the Borough. Part of your duties will include patrolling outside schools.

You will be able to communicate in a friendly but effective professional manner. You will have excellent road safety awareness, strong observational skills and the ability to work on your own initiative with minimum supervision. You must have a flexible approach to work, as your role will involve working an average of 37 hours per week to an agreed roster working 20 days out of 28 days, including weekends and both early and late shifts. At certain times you may be required to work overtime depending on the business needs. Enhancements will be paid for any overtime and weekend working.

The ability to greet customers through the medium of Welsh is a requirement for this post. Protecting children, young people or adults at risk is a core responsibility of all council employees. A Standard criminal records check by the Disclosure & Barring Service (DBS) is a requirement for this post. A valid driving licence is a requirement for this post. Weekend Working is a requirement of this post.
