The Greater Manchester Perinatal Service has been developed to deliver perinatal mental health care in an integrated manner across the whole system. This is an opportunity for a Specialty Doctor to join a well-established, reputable perinatal service that delivers perinatal mental health care in a unique manner based on a whole system approach.

- 1 x Specialty Doctor (this post)
- 1 x Core Trainee
- 1 x Team Manager
- Community Psychiatric Nurses
- OT
- Social Worker
- Advanced Clinical Practitioner
- Community Nursery Nurses
- Psychologists
- Medical Secretaries
- Team Administrator
Responsibilities:
- The Specialty doctor will be expected to hold a caseload and carry out antenatal and postnatal outpatient clinics.
- Assess new patients and follow‑up patients on the caseload.
- Carry out MHA assessments as appropriate and respond to urgent requests from the team.
- Support the team and carry out urgent home visits as they arise throughout the week.
- Liaise with social workers, specialist mental health midwives, care co‑ordinators from other mental health teams, health visitors and other health and social care professionals involved in a patient’s care.
- The Specialty doctor will be expected to engage in clinical supervision and discuss cases at the weekly MDT.
- Complete contemporaneous notes and referrals in a timely manner.
- Give advice to GPs around medication in the perinatal period.
- Raise safeguarding concerns appropriately and action social care referrals in a timely manner.
