We are seeking a proactive and relationship-driven Employer Engagement Officer to join our Employment and Skills service, supporting local residents who are unemployed or economically inactive to move into sustainable work.

This role is central to strengthening partnerships with employers, identifying job opportunities, and ensuring that residents have clear pathways into employment. You will work closely with Employment Advisors, training providers, and local businesses to match candidates to vacancies, promote inclusive recruitment, and help employers access available support programmes.

You will actively plan and deliver engaging employer-focused activity such as job fairs, drop-in sessions, and targeted sector-based recruitment events, while gathering valuable labour market insight and employer feedback to shape responsive local programmes. Additionally, you will maintain accurate records, contribute to performance reporting, and ensure all activity champions equality, diversity, and inclusive growth, helping create sustainable employment outcomes for the community.

About You

You will be passionate about helping people into work and confident engaging with a wide range of employers. You’ll bring strong communication skills, commercial awareness, and a solution-focused approach. We're looking for someone who has experience in employer engagement, recruitment, business development, or similar.

A knowledge of local labour markets and business needs, as well as the ability to understand and match candidate skills to employer requirements and a commitment to supporting residents facing barriers to employment is crucial for this role. You must have excellent relationship building and networking skills, as well as the ability to work collaboratively with partners and colleagues. You must have strong organisational skills and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Legal and Safeguarding

We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of vulnerable adults and young people and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment. DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) clearance – this post is covered by the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 (Exceptions) Order 1975 (amended in 2013). Employment offers are conditional subject to satisfactory clearances. For roles where a criminal records check from the DBS is required, this includes satisfactory clearance of this check. The possession of a criminal record will not necessarily bar an individual from working with us. This will depend on the nature of the position and the circumstances and background of an individual’s offence/s. Information provided by you or the DBS will be dealt with in a confidential manner and in accordance with the DBS Code of Practice.

This post is a designated customer-facing role under the fluency duty and requires a specified level of spoken English as per the person specification.
