Position Overview

Full time 37.5 hours per week. Permanent post. We are looking for a highly organised Medical Secretary/Project Support Assistant, with previous experience in a similar setting, who will work alongside other Senior Medical Secretaries to carry out clinical typing, coordination of patients’ case notes/test results, appointments, assistance with theatre listings, telephone messages amongst other general office duties as well as assisting the administration of several projects. The post holder will be based in the offices for the Urology Secretarial Team at Royal Bolton Hospital. The post holder will be responsible for providing an efficient secretarial service to the Urology and Head and Neck Team. The post holder will provide cross cover for fellow secretaries when required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide a full medical secretarial and administrative support
  • Provide assistance with several projects
  • General office duties including e-mail and computer systems, word processing

Qualifications

  • Highly organised, articulate, capable of undertaking demanding workload
  • Significant level of initiative
  • Advanced keyboard skills and high standard of word processing skills to RSA III or equivalent level qualification / experience
  • GCSE English Language and Maths grade C or above
  • Previous medical secretarial experience
  • Knowledge of medical terminology and audio typing
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritise workload
  • Genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients
  • Knowledge of the NHS desirable
