About this job
It’s an exciting time for the Orthopaedic team at Bolton NHS Foundation Trust. The Orthopaedic unit has a dedicated brand new elective care centre for elective surgery, a ring‑fenced ward, and an outpatient department with its own x‑ray facility. We provide an excellent interface outpatient service at Bolton One, led by our team of Advanced Orthopaedic Practitioners. Within the hospital we have two trauma wards, each with a Trauma Stabilisation Unit (TSU). Our Elective Care Centre has two laminar flow theatres for arthroplasty surgery and another two laminar flow theatres in the main theatre department for trauma surgery. The team of thirteen Consultants provides general services and key area specialisations and includes experienced plaster room staff, physiotherapists, specialist registrars, foundation year doctors, clinical fellows, advanced nurse practitioners and a dedicated administrative team. Responsibilities
- Participate in a full shift on‑call rota (1:11).
- Provide patient care on the ward.
- Attend weekly fracture clinic.
- Assist in trauma and elective theatre lists.
- Take part in departmental teaching.
- Participate in audit.
- Complete out‑of‑hours work as required; evening, weekend and on‑call enhancements will be added according to the work schedule.
Qualifications
- Full registration with the GMC is essential.
- MRCS preferred, but not essential.
- Potential for Home Office Tier 2 sponsorship for non‑UK or non‑EEA applicants.
Other Requirements
Postgraduate Dean’s required educational and numerical approval is not carried by this post. Clinical Fellows are paid on a local pay scale that mirrors Doctors in Training pay scales. Basic salary offered is fixed at £52,656 and will not be uplifted beyond that point. Variations in salary will not be considered.
