Part-time 24 hours per week. We are looking to recruit a qualified hospital based play worker. The post holder will be responsible for promoting play activities and creating a positive, welcoming environment for children of all ages. The post holder will utilise a variety of skills and knowledge acquired through experience to provide emotional support for children undergoing a variety of procedures. The post holder will be required to work flexibly across 7 days.
- To maintain a safe, child-focused environment where play occurs naturally.
- To provide play for normalisation for children attending hospital as both in or out patients.
- To document play interventions.
- To use knowledge of child development when selecting play activities.
- To organise and supervise play activities for individual and groups of children and young people in hospital according to their individual needs and as part of the overall plan.
- To plan a programme of daily play activities for the playroom.
- To establish effective communication both verbal and written with children / families and members of the multi-disciplinary team.
- To provide play based observations to support the overall assessment of the child.
- To ensure that up-to-date written records and activity data are maintained in accordance with Professional and Trust Standards.
- To respect the individuality, values, cultures and religious diversity of children, carers and families and contribute to the provision of a service sensitive to these needs.
- To review and reflect on own practice and performance through the effective use of clinical supervision and appraisal.
- To participate in the delivery of the play service development play.
- To comply with Trust Policies and Procedures.
