We are looking to recruit a 40 hour Trainee Counter Assistant on a 12 months fixed-term contract to work at our 012 branch located at Waters Meeting HC, Waters Meeting Road, Bolton, BL1 8SW.

The proposed shift pattern is as follows:

  • Monday 09:00 - 18:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Tuesday 09:00 - 18:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Wednesday 09:00 - 18:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Thursday 09:00 - 18:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)
  • Friday 09:00 - 18:00 (with 1 hour unpaid lunch break)

As a Trainee Pharmacy Counter Assistant you will work under the supervision of the Pharmacist and will assist customers with the sale of over the counter medicines, offering advice on the provision of information, symptoms and products while promoting the additional services that our branch offers. You will also be tasked with replenishing stock and supporting the pharmacy team.

The role would ideally suit someone with previous customer service experience. The utmost attention to detail is required in this role along with the ability to work under pressure and to strict deadlines. The successful candidate must have great people skills as this is paramount to your role. You will be required to work as part of a well-established team and ensure our customers receive a high standard of service.

You will be enrolled onto a Medicines Counter Assistant Course that you will complete in branch over a period of time and once qualified you will be able to confidently:

  • support colleagues in running a successful pharmacy service
  • advise customers on how to manage common conditions encountered in the pharmacy
  • recommend over the counter products appropriately to customers
  • support colleagues with receiving and handing out prescriptions
