Weekend Boarding Matron Post: Sunday 9am – Monday 9am, 18 hours per week (term time + 3 half terms). Start date: September 2026. Responsible to: Head of Boarding/SLT. Status: Permanent, part‑time.
Responsibilities
- Provide care and support for the boarders in the boarding house.
- Give help and advice to students where appropriate while respecting confidentiality.
- Administer basic first aid within the house and liaise with the Medical Officer.
- Implement house security policies, including visitor procedures.
- Understand the fire system and procedures, and deal with emergencies appropriately.
- Record events in house duty, medical and accident books.
- Arrange and distribute pocket money.
- Ensure students sign up for weekend activities.
- Report and log maintenance issues.
- Check dormitories and communal areas for tidiness and that cleaning rotas are followed.
- Assist with laundry.
- Monitor students on private study in the house and maintain a quiet atmosphere.
- Collate and authorise off‑site requests as per boarding house procedures.
- Collate and record half‑term and end‑of‑term information.
- Assist with boarding trips and accompany boarding pupils on school off‑site visits.
- Assist with internal activities for those not involved in weekend trips.
- Oversee meals in the dining room.
- Assist the Boarding Team with end‑of‑term clean‑up days and beginning‑of‑term preparation days.
