Overview: The Victim Transformation Programme is a key priority within the Crown Prosecution Service, focusing on improving the experience of victims through the criminal justice system.
Responsibilities: As a victim liaison officer, you support our work by delivering a high-quality universal service to victims of crime. You provide a quality service to victims of crime through effective verbal and written communications. This includes answering queries, providing updates and explaining case decisions over the phone, and drafting letters to victims.
You manage sensitive and challenging conversations with colleagues, external stakeholders and with victims, whilst demonstrating empathy, integrity and good listening skills. You regularly communicate with criminal justice partners including witness care units and police, to maintain effective and productive partnerships. This includes signposting victims to the appropriate contact point at partner agencies to ensure they receive the right support and that their needs and welfare remain central to the process.
You are also responsible for helping victims of crime to understand the role of the Crown Prosecution Service and the wider criminal justice system, including the legal procedures and their rights within the system.
