Long Term Futures is seeking a flexible and committed Specialist Teaching Support practitioner to join a SEND setting in South Birmingham, working with both primary and secondary‑aged pupils with Autism. This is a highly rewarding role suited to someone who thrives in a varied environment and is passionate about delivering individualized support.

This position involves providing 1:1 support; however, you will work with different pupils on a rotating basis rather than being assigned to one individual. This approach helps to promote independence and prevents over‑reliance on a single member of staff.

About the Role
  • Delivering tailored 1:1 support to pupils with Autism across primary and secondary age groups
  • Working with a variety of pupils throughout the week to encourage independence and adaptability
  • Supporting students in lessons and within structured breakout settings
  • Assisting with personalized learning tasks linked to EHCP targets
  • Supporting emotional regulation, communication, and daily transitions
  • Monitoring progress and behaviour, feeding back to relevant staff
  • Promoting confidence, engagement, and positive social interaction
  • Working collaboratively with staff to implement consistent support strategies
Ideal Candidate Profile
  • Experience working with children or young people with Autism
  • Comfortable supporting both primary and secondary‑aged pupils
  • Adaptable and confident building relationships quickly with different students
  • Calm, patient, and resilient within a SEND environment
  • Able to maintain clear and consistent boundaries while remaining supportive
  • Must hold a valid UK driving licence and have access to a vehicle (essential)
  • Reliable and committed to a long‑term role
