As a Specialist 1-to-1 Study Skills Support Worker you will provide learning support and academic guidance. This includes creating an individual learning plan tailored to each student's needs and encouraging them to become independent learners.
Responsibilities:
- Develop independence
- Build on strengths and learning strategies
- Create strategies around organisation and time management
- Create action plans to stay on track with studies
- Build on research skills
Skill development activities include widening knowledge using a variety of sources, distinguishing appropriate sources and correctly using references, and building comprehension skills within reading and writing.
Qualifications and training requirements:
- Undergraduate degree level (Level 6 minimum)
- Teaching qualification
- Extensive training in adult autism, such as 6 National Autistic Society Modules (non‑medical helper package) or the Optimum Training Course: Autism and ADHD in Higher Education – Non‑Medical Helper (NMH) Mentoring and Study Skills Strategies.
- All students are funded by the Disabled Students Allowance (DSA); candidates must adhere to the qualification framework set out by the DfE.
