Location: Penny Tree School, Birmingham, B30 3ES

Hours: 37.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8.30am - 4.30pm

Salary: £26,375 per annum (not pro rata)

Contract: Permanent (Term Time Only)

Start: July 2026 (UK applicants only) No sponsorship available.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver high‑quality lessons to individuals and small groups in Humanities subjects, following the curriculum framework.
  • Support nurture‑based programmes that help students develop confidence, resilience and emotional understanding.
  • Monitor and record student progress, ensuring each learner moves forward at an appropriate pace.
  • Create a positive, stimulating classroom environment with purposeful displays and well‑organised resources.
  • Contribute to the development of personalised learning plans, behaviour plans and individual education pathways.
  • Assist with subject development across key stages as agreed with the Headteacher.
  • Work closely with Learning Support Assistants, Tutors, Instructors and care staff to ensure a consistent, joined‑up approach.
  • Support students with challenging behaviour using empathy, structure and clear boundaries.
  • Ensure student safety and wellbeing at all times, both on and off site, in line with safeguarding and risk assessment procedures.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Passionate about Humanities and enthusiastic about sharing that passion with young people.
  • Experienced in delivering learning in a school, alternative provision or youth‑focused setting.
  • Skilled at building positive relationships and motivating students who may have barriers to learning.
  • Creative, adaptable and confident in tailoring activities to individual needs.
  • Calm, resilient and able to support students with challenging behaviour.
  • Strong communicator who works well as part of a multi‑professional team.
  • Organised, reflective and committed to ongoing development.
