Prospero Teaching are recruiting for a welcoming and supportive primary school in Central East Birmingham. They are seeking a dedicated and compassionate EYFS Teaching Assistant with a strong interest in Special Educational Needs (SEN) support to join their Early Years team from September 2026. This is a fantastic opportunity to work within a nurturing and inclusive school environment that is committed to providing high-quality education and tailored support for young learners, including pupils with additional needs, during the crucial early stages of development.

The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting children across the EYFS setting, particularly those with SEN, helping to create a positive, engaging, and safe learning environment where every child can thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.

The Role:

  • Supporting the class teacher within the EYFS classroom
  • Providing targeted 1:1 and small group support for pupils with additional needs, including ASD, speech and language difficulties, and social/emotional needs
  • Assisting with phonics, sensory learning activities, and structured play‑based interventions
  • Adapting activities to meet individual learning needs and abilities
  • Encouraging communication, independence, and pupil engagement
  • Supporting children's social, emotional, and behavioural development using positive behaviour strategies
  • Working closely with the SENCO, class teacher, and external professionals where required
  • Helping to maintain a safe, inclusive, and stimulating learning environment

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Have previous experience working within an EYFS or SEN setting
  • Have a good understanding of the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and inclusive practice
  • Have experience supporting children with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, speech and language needs, or SEMH
  • Be patient, nurturing, and resilient
  • Have excellent communication and teamwork skills
  • Be passionate about supporting children with SEN to reach their full potential
  • Be reliable, proactive, and adaptable to the needs of individual pupils
