The Royal Orthopaedic Hospital (ROH) is seeking to recruit up to 2 Consultant Anaesthetists to provide anaesthesia to patients undergoing primary and complex revision arthroplasty, spinal surgery (degenerative and deformity) and musculoskeletal oncology surgery. An interest in perioperative medicine including pre-assessment clinic and regional anaesthesia is also required. Applications are invited for enthusiastic and highly motivated anaesthetists to join our friendly and supportive department.
Currently we have 25 consultants, 7 SAS doctors, 7 Anaesthesia Associates & between 4 and 6 rotating registrars from the Birmingham School of Anaesthesia. This advertisement is for whole-time consultant roles (10.5 PAs). This would be made up of 10 PA of SPA and DCC and an additional 0.5 PA as an on-call allowance. As the non-resident on-call commitment equates to 1:8, an additional 5% salary uplift will be added to the weekly clinical job plan. The on-call commitment covers emergency theatre and the HDU.
These job plans will include 1.5 of core SPA with up to an extra 1 SPA available on taking on additional roles either within the department or wider hospital. Some examples are that successful applicants could contribute significantly to the current commitment of successfully completing ACSA (Accreditation of Clinical Services in Anaesthesia), become clinical leads or work as educational supervisors or clinical appraisals.
