Overview

We seek a senior Construction Director to lead a large, multi‑site government construction programme across the UK. The position will provide strategic leadership, oversee complex construction activity across multiple workstreams and project values, and drive safe, efficient and commercially successful delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support the Head of Projects in leading large‑scale construction projects from inception through to handover.
  • Oversee delivery across multiple concurrent projects, ensuring safety, schedule, and budget compliance.
  • Provide senior leadership to project teams and managers across all construction divisions.
  • Act as the primary link between site‑based teams and senior leadership.
  • Set, maintain and embed project standards, processes and best practice.
  • Manage budgets, risks, timelines and resources across assigned projects.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety and quality standards at all times.
  • Track progress, report performance, and maintain accurate project data and systems.

Professional Competencies / Qualifications

  • Proven experience as a Construction Director or equivalent within a Tier 1 construction environment.
  • Extensive senior management experience delivering multi‑million‑pound construction or infrastructure projects.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage risk, performance and profitability.
  • Excellent leadership, stakeholder management and crisis management capabilities.
  • In‑depth knowledge of construction methodologies, regulations and building standards.
  • Professional chartership required (e.g. CIOB, RICS, ICE).
  • Ability to attain BPSS clearance, with SC clearance required at a later stage.
  • Full UK driving licence and flexibility to travel across UK sites as required.
