Our six-year Civil Engineering degree apprenticeship puts you at the heart of National Highways projects that keep the country connected covering 4,500 miles of road, 20,000 structures and a network of cutting-edge technology.
Mentored by experienced engineers, you’ll develop skills in key disciplines like asset management, pavement, structures and design, applying your knowledge both in the office and on site. You’ll complete a Level 6 undergraduate degree apprenticeship in Civil Engineering your first step towards achieving chartered engineer (CEng) status with the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE). It’s the perfect way to graduate debt-free, gain real experience, and set yourself up for a career that shapes the future.

What You’ll Need to Succeed
You’ll need to bring a positive mindset, take ownership of your work, and be ready to adapt when things shift. We’re looking for great communicators who work well with others, stay organised, and think critically to solve problems. If you’re curious, passionate, and keen to learn, you’ll fit right in and grow fast.
To be eligible for the apprenticeship, you must:
- Hold (or will achieve before September 2026) Minimum of five GCSEs (including English and Maths, at grade C/grade 4 or above)
- Plus, one of the following:
- A minimum of 112 UCAS points made up of A Levels, or a mix of A Levels and equivalent qualifications (excluding General Studies);
- BTEC Extended Diploma at grades DMM in a related subject;
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in a related subject at Merit grade or above;
- Completed a Level 4 Apprenticeship in a related field.
Be able to attend a 4-day induction from 7th -10th September 2026. Hold an unrestricted Right to Work in the UK for the full duration of the programme. Due to the salary level of this role, we cannot offer sponsorship for the position for individuals that don’t have the Right to Work in the UK. Assessment Centres will run in May-June 2026, and you’ll hear back soon after about whether you’ve secured a place. All offers to the programme are subject to satisfactory completion of pre-employment checks, including Right to Work, reference, and DBS criminal record checks.
