Cemetery Operative needed in Birmingham, £13.45 ph PAYE. Reference: 474834.

Require work at any of the city’s cemeteries or crematoria; be part of a team to provide a high quality service to the bereaved and associated agencies.

Responsibilities:
  • Excavate, backfill and prepare graves for interment; prepare excavated graves with artificial grass mats, lower ropes, stretchers, etc.
  • Backfill graves after interment and tidy immediate area.
  • Perform ground maintenance tasks not included in the grounds maintenance contract as detailed in the document "Non-Contracted Cemetery Grounds Maintenance".
  • Unlock and lock cemetery gates as instructed; report all cemetery security issues to the Cemetery Foreperson or Bereavement Officer.
  • Drive and operate vehicles: van/car tractor, mini tractor and trailer dumper, excavator, roadsweeper.
  • Contribute to the overall maintenance of cemetery areas, ensuring a clean and respectful environment.
Qualifications:

None specified. Experience in cemetery or grounds maintenance or similar is considered advantageous.
