We are seeking a Speech and Language Therapist to work in the Autism Assessment Team and in the Young People’s Learning Disability Team within the Children and Young People’s Division in the Trust. Applicants who are experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapists and ready to develop towards a Band 7 Advanced role are encouraged to apply. Applicants who already meet Band 7 criteria may be appointed at that level based on experience.
Both teams value the input from speech and language therapists to inform outcomes for young people referred to the service. The post holder will contribute to the ongoing development of the team, ensuring all young people accessing mental health services have timely, evidence‑based assessment and post‑diagnostic support that is tailored to their needs.
The role involves working alongside multidisciplinary colleagues in mental health teams, providing specialist consultation and advice to inform care planning and intervention for neurodiverse young people. The Autism Assessment Team offers specialist assessment and pre‑ and post‑diagnostic input within the specialist mental health service. We provide a regular programme of CPD, peer support and supervision to support professional development and high quality care. Our team is committed to improving the lives of neurodiverse or learning disabled children and young people, enhancing service provision for learning disabled and autistic people with co‑occurring mental health needs.
Qualifications- Experienced Band 6 Speech and Language Therapist
- Ready for development towards Band 7 Advanced role
- Knowledge of autism and learning disability assessment and intervention (advantage if held)
- Permanent contract within a supportive NHS team
