A new and exciting opportunity to support Specialist Patient Pathways within the Community Dental Service.
We are seeking an enthusiastic, dynamic and forward-thinking Specialist Sedation Dental Nurse to join the Birmingham Community Dental Nursing team.
Job Plan:
- Tuesday (8:45 am – 12:30 pm) – Sparkbrook Health Centre
- Thursday (8:45 am – 5:00 pm) – Sparkbrook Health Centre
- Friday (8:45 am – 5:00 pm) – Northfield Health Centre
Responsibilities:
- Support the clinical management of the dental specialty and ensure a high standard of patient care while adhering to all Trust policies and procedures.
- Deliver high-quality clinical nursing support across Dental Services Division sites to respond to complex patient needs that meet specialty criteria.
- Maintain patient confidentiality and provide care for patients with complex dental, social and medical needs.
- Control stock, rotate and order dental consumables from appropriate suppliers.
- Prepare and maintain specialised dental equipment and dispose of clinical waste, including bodily fluids.
- Record patient pre-operative assessments (e.g., height, weight, blood pressure).
- Carry out any other duties relevant to the role as specified by the Dental Nurse Manager and/or Tutor.
- Provide clinical nursing support for radiography to support the clinical patient pathway.
- Identify staff and students who require additional training within the specialty and elevate as appropriate.
- Support team training for all disciplines in collaboration with the School of Dental Nursing, University of Birmingham and relevant heads of service.
- Adhere to procedures that support national compliance targets.
- Implement agreed local, divisional and Trust policies.
- Implement outcomes related to Clinical Governance and Quality Improvement for the specialty.
Qualifications:
- Dental Sedation Certificate for Inhalation Sedation (minimum).
- Up-to-date sedation training and ability to provide a CPD log for the sedation specialism.
- Ability to travel flexibly to other sites within the division as required.
