The predicted salary is between 24169 - 25674 £ per year.
The post holder will work as part of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway Service, aimed at improving the care of children with ADHD, ASD and other linked comorbidities across the city, both pre and post diagnosis. This role involves coordinating clinical and educational support, including group sessions for staff, families and professionals, and implementing interventions to promote the health and wellbeing of children, young people and their families.
Responsibilities
- Work closely with members of the Neurodevelopmental Pathway Team to develop, demonstrate and modify ADHD services provided to children, young people and their families.
- Be a member of the multidisciplinary teams and collaborate with clinical colleagues within the NDP services to prioritise, plan and organise daily workload, ensuring that tasks and ongoing workloads are completed within agreed and acceptable timescales.
- Communicate effectively with children and young people to explain health screening procedures and offer reassurance and encouragement to use the service, employing a range of communication skills and accessing alternative communication systems where necessary.
- Undertake measurement of height, weight, blood pressure and other routine clinical procedures, and transport equipment as required, following appropriate training.
- Notify the appropriate nurse of any changes in a child's general condition, assess progress, report findings and make suggestions under guidance.
- Participate in regular locality meetings with the NDP teams.
- Assist patients with additional needs (hyperactive, impulsive behaviours, learning disabilities, SEND, mental health) to partake in the assessment process.
- Ensure equipment is regularly maintained and calibrated in line with Trust policies.
- Record accurately the results of clinical measurements/tests in children/young people's records in accordance with record‑keeping guidelines laid down by the Trust.
- Assist with tests required for the assessment of ADHD and ASD.
- Follow Child Protection procedures and maintain confidentiality in line with Trust policies.
- Report any concerns to the Clinical Lead, Team Leader or NDP nurses as required, ensuring accurate documentation.
- Input data and produce simple computerised data as required, and collate clinic data to provide figures to the Clinical Lead, Team Leader and NDP Nurses.
- Supervise, where expected, Band 2 and Band 3 members of the Team.
- Undertake any other duties relevant to the post under the direction of the Community Paediatrician or specialist nurses.
- Communicate with families in a timely manner, providing them with up‑to‑date information.
- Investigate and understand local support offers around the city, and support families to navigate various sources of support.
- Map and build relationships with local Peer Support Groups and support the development of Peer Support Groups where gaps exist.
- Produce training and information materials for children, families and professionals that are accessible and neuro‑affirmative.
- Gather feedback from workshops and other activities, and following assessments and contact with the service, to ensure the needs of those accessing the service are met and positive impact is realised; contribute to and coordinate service evaluations.
