Responsibilities:
- Deliver efficient, professional catering, assist in preparation and service of meals and beverages to patients, staff, and visitors in Trust properties and operate a cash register when required.
- Understand the importance of accurate meals for patients with special dietary or cultural requirements.
- Prepare salads, sandwiches, and other basic food items for patients, staff, and visitors.
- Support meal services by loading bulk trolleys or ward-level service of meals.
- Conduct basic cooking (buffets, breakfast items) under Facilities Supervisor guidance.
- Clean equipment and premises daily according to duty rotas and schedules using appropriate equipment and chemicals.
- Clean floors, walls, and surfaces.
- Perform deep cleaning of all catering equipment within the department.
- Adhere to Food Hygiene Standards and Trust policies and procedures.
- Responsible for deliveries, stock control, cleanliness of stock areas, and raise shortfalls immediately to Facilities Supervisor.
- Check, clean and refill vending machines and 24‑hour catering stores.
- Complete HACCP documentation and sales controls for audit purposes.
- Assist customers experiencing vending machine issues and resolve on behalf of the customer.
- Answer and resolve telephone queries and respond to department requests accurately and efficiently.
- Demonstrate role requirements to new starters.
- Set up meeting rooms and prepare food for special functions, including beverages and buffet items, and follow with clearing venue, washing up, and returning items to the restaurant.
- Wash up ward‑level patient equipment as required.
- Dispose of waste food and refuse hygienically in accordance with Trust Waste Management Policy.
- Prepare servery area and restaurant prior to service to ensure attractive presentation and replenishment during opening times.
- Prepare refrigerated commodities.
