We are looking for an Apprentice Painter & Decorator based in the Midlands, with pick-up to our office in Smethwick. This role is part of our Painting Apprenticeship Programme, designed to give you the practical skills, qualifications, and personal development needed to become a fully qualified Painter & Decorator.
What’s in it for you?

- Working hours: 39 per week (Monday to Friday), inclusive of day release.

Responsibilities
- As an apprentice you will work alongside experienced tradespeople carrying out refurbishment work in customers’ homes, focusing on delivering high-quality internal and external painting works.
- Achieve a Level 2 Painting & Decorating qualification.
- Develop into a qualified painter specialising in decent homes.
What You’ll Learn (work methods)
- Understand the purpose of tools and equipment, how to use, store and maintain them safely and the reaction of materials to atmospheric conditions, product and specifications.
- Gain expert knowledge of product types, drying, curing, effects of colour, interpreting specifications and colour choices.
- Learn preparation methods both traditional and modern, techniques of application, removal, wallpaper hanging and identifying substrates.
- Learn the principles of health, safety and welfare and how these are applied in the workplace including handling hazardous substances.
- Develop teamwork skills: be part of a busy team and play an active role.
Stakeholder Management
- Develop and maintain relationships with managers, colleagues and customers.
Requirements
- Motivated individuals eager to learn and develop.

- Enjoy practical, physical work.
- Reliable team player.
- GCSEs in Maths and English (Grade 4–9 / A–C) – preferred but not essential.
- Not suitable for those already holding or studying towards a Level 2 qualification in painting.
- A DBS check will be required.
