About the Role
As an Accounting Apprentice, you will support day-to-day accounting and administrative tasks while developing your knowledge of bookkeeping, VAT, and financial accounts. This role offers exposure to a wide range of clients, including sole traders and limited companies, giving you valuable real-world experience from the outset.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- General administrative support within the accounts function
- Sending reminders for VAT and limited company deadlines and following up on required documentation via phone, email, and letter
- Organising and maintaining invoices and receipts
- Entering sales invoices, purchase invoices, and receipts into accounting software
- Maintaining accurate client files and liaising directly with clients
- Completing cashbooks using bank statements and reconciling them to zero
- Compiling and submitting VAT returns
- Preparing trial balances for financial accounts for sole traders and limited companies
- Dealing with HMRC and responding to queries
- Answering client queries via telephone and email
- Ensuring month-end planning is completed and deadlines are met for VAT returns, financial accounts, and tax returns
- Credit control duties, including contacting clients regarding outstanding balances, receiving payments, and allocating funds on the system
Training and Qualifications
Working towards an AAT Level 2 or Level 3 Accounting qualification. Full on-the-job training and structured learning support provided.
