This role is about consistency, calm and connection. If you’re experienced in supporting children with complex needs and understand that communication goes beyond words, this could be the role for you.
You will support a non-verbal autistic child within the school’s Pathways Provision, helping them access learning through structure, routine and personalised strategies. This is a rewarding role suited to someone patient, emotionally aware and confident supporting autism and sensory needs.
Responsibilities:- Provide consistent 1:1 support for a pupil with complex SEND
- Support a non-verbal child with ASD using visual communication, PECS and symbols
- Help regulate emotions through sensory-based strategies
- Work towards EHCP outcomes and individual support plans
- Support transitions and routines to reduce anxiety
- Work closely with the SENDCo and Pathways team
- Promote independence, engagement and emotional regulation
- Maintain a calm, structured learning environment
- Experience supporting autism and complex needs
- Confidence working with non-verbal communication
- Calm, patient and resilient approach
- Understanding of sensory regulation strategies
- Passion for inclusive education and SEND support
