This is an exciting time to be joining Wirral University Teaching Hospital as we develop our brand new Sterile Services Department. Phase 2 of the project will begin in February 2026. The Sterile Services Department is on the Arrowe Park site with a stand-alone Theatre Endoscopy Decontamination Unit on the Clatterbridge site.
The post holder will be required to manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the Sterile Services Department ensuring robust systems of communication, governance and financial management. You will report directly to the Associate Director of Operations for Peri-operative Medicine. The Trust has a Decontamination Lead who will provide support and guidance to you to ensure regulatory standards are maintained.
The Sterile Services Decontamination Manager is responsible for the operational management of the Sterile Services Department and the provision of a flexible and responsive service which meets the needs of the customer.
Responsibilities:- To ensure continuous quality improvement and the management of change necessary to meet organisational objectives and the changing healthcare environment.
- To provide for Trust wide decontamination advice to managers on the compliance of their equipment, procedures, and decontamination processes to ensure compliance with current standards.
- The post holder will be responsible for ensuring national decontamination standards are maintained within the department.
- You will lead on engaging with other hospital sites that the department sterilises instruments for on a daily basis.
- To lead the Operational development of Decontamination Services for the Trust, in line with national guidelines, advising accountable managers on the implementation of all statutory and regulatory requirements and maintaining compliance with relevant ISO, HTM, IPG & CQC standards.
- The Sterile Services Decontamination Manager is accountable to the Associate Director of Operations for Peri-operative Medicine, providing effective leadership, operational management and ensuring robust systems of communication, governance and financial management.
- The Sterile Services Manager will lead on projects relating to Sterile Services.
