ZETEC Recruitment are working with an established accountancy firm to recruit an experienced Senior Accountant. The successful candidate will support a varied portfolio of small and medium‑size businesses, providing a broad range of accounting and taxation services. This position would suit someone who is comfortable managing their own workload, dealing directly with clients and supporting less experienced members of the team.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare year‑end accounts for limited companies, partnerships and sole traders
- Complete corporation tax computations and returns
- Prepare and submit personal tax returns
- Produce VAT returns and management accounts
- Support clients with bookkeeping and general accounting requirements
- Respond to client queries and provide clear, practical guidance
- Liaise with HMRC and other relevant organisations when required
- Manage a portfolio of work and ensure deadlines are met
- Assist senior colleagues with wider client assignments
- Review work completed by junior team members
- Support the training and development of less experienced staff
- Build and maintain good working relationships with clients
About You
- At least three years’ experience working within an accountancy firm is essential
- AAT, ACA or ACCA qualified, part‑qualified, or qualified through relevant experience
- Good knowledge of accounts preparation, corporation tax, personal tax, VAT and bookkeeping
- Confident managing work with limited supervision
- Experience dealing directly with clients and working to multiple deadlines
- Previous experience reviewing work and supporting junior colleagues
- Well organised with good communication skills and attention to detail
- Experience managing a portfolio of clients would be beneficial
- Familiarity with accounting packages such as Sage, Xero, QuickBooks etc
- Comfortable learning and using additional accounts and tax software
