We are currently seeking a compassionate and motivated Teaching Assistant to join a specialist education setting near Birkenhead. This role involves supporting students with SEMH and additional learning needs, both inside and outside of the classroom, helping them to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
Working alongside teachers and pastoral staff, you will:
- Provide tailored classroom support
- Encourage positive engagement with learning
- Build strong relationships with pupils to help boost confidence and wellbeing
- Provide pastoral guidance and mentoring
- Support students to manage challenges, develop resilience, and achieve positive outcomes
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students with SEMH/SEN needs during lessons and daily activities
- Provide encouragement and guidance to promote student progress and confidence
- Assist in creating a safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environment
- Offer pastoral and emotional support to help students develop socially and emotionally
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff and other professionals to meet individual student needs
- Promote positive behaviour and uphold safeguarding procedures at all times
Requirements:
- Experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or support setting
- Understanding of SEMH, SEN, or alternative provision environments
- GCSE Maths and English Grade C/4 or above (or equivalent)
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- A patient, empathetic, and proactive approach
- Commitment to safeguarding, equality, diversity, and student wellbeing
