Ambitek are looking to recruit an experienced Mechanical QA Inspector for work based in Birkenhead. We are looking for a time‑served Mechanical Fitter who has progressed into a quality‑focused role. Candidates must have a strong background in heavy engineering and mechanical assembly. Ideal candidates will have previous shipyard or marine experience; however, applicants from other heavy engineering sectors will also be considered, particularly those experienced working on large machinery, rotating equipment, or heavy mechanical systems.

Duties:

  • Mechanical inspection and quality assurance activities
  • Checking completed mechanical assemblies against drawings and specifications
  • Conducting dimensional and visual inspections
  • Identifying and reporting defects and non‑conformances
  • Working closely with production and engineering teams
  • Ensuring all work meets required quality and safety standards

Requirements:

  • Time‑served Mechanical Fitter apprenticeship
  • Previous QA/QC or inspection experience within heavy engineering
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Strong understanding of mechanical assembly processes
  • Shipyard experience desirable but not essential

This is a PAYE position only: Basic Pay: £23.12 per hour, Overtime 1: x1.5 – £34.68, Overtime 2: x2 – £44.32.
