Neway are seeking an Advanced Practitioner to join the Adult's Social Work team based with Wirral MBC.
Contract: ongoing; 36 hrs per week. Start: 05 May 2026. Work pattern: 3 days office / 2 days remote. Location: 2 Alice Square, Birkenhead, Merseyside, CH41 2YA
Wirral Council is seeking an experienced Advanced Practitioner (Adults) to lead high-quality practice across safeguarding, adult protection and complex casework within Adult Social Care. You’ll work closely with Commissioning and Contracts colleagues to review funding applications, ensure compliance with national and local criteria, and support operational teams with expert guidance and professional standards oversight.
Responsibilities:
- Supporting casework for existing funded clients, including those approaching review
- Managing a register and workflow system for applications and case oversight
- Organising and recording internal and joint funding panels
- Liaising with Legal Services on correspondence relating to funding decisions
- Monitoring risk, identifying mitigation options and escalating appropriately
- Working with providers on best practice in case recording, risk assessment, behaviour management and evidence collation
About You:
We’re looking for a confident, motivated and forward-thinking practitioner with:
- Strong safeguarding and adult protection expertise
- Experience managing complex cases and promoting independence
- The ability to provide professional leadership and influence practice standards
- A constructive, solutions-focused approach and commitment to positive outcomes
