An exciting opportunity for 2 HCAs to join M1. Full‑time (37.5 hrs) and part‑time (32.25 hrs) positions are available. M1 is a 30‑bed medically optimised older adult ward that also supports up to 10 escalation beds during periods of increased demand. The ward provides care for clinically stable patients requiring ongoing nursing support, monitoring and discharge planning. Patients are frail older adults meeting complex needs, including cognitive impairment, reduced mobility and long‑term conditions. The HCA delivers high‑quality, compassionate and person‑centred care under the supervision of registered nurses.

Responsibilities

  • Support patients with activities of daily living, nutrition, mobilisation and comfort while promoting dignity, independence and wellbeing.
  • Assist the Registered Nurse with direct patient care.
  • Communicate clearly with patients, carers, relatives and the multidisciplinary team and record communications on the system.
  • Prioritise own workload and inform qualified staff of changes in a patient’s condition or observations.
  • Escort and chaperone patients as appropriate.
  • Perform clerical duties such as filing and ordering supplies, ensuring proper stock levels and storage.
  • Maintain the availability, cleanliness and maintenance of equipment and patient valuables.
  • Adhere to hospital objectives, policies, protocols and guidelines.
  • Report concerns or anxieties disclosed by patients to the appropriate health‑care professional.
  • Participate in ward safety huddles and raise concerns as required.
  • Support patients in changing position to maintain healthy skin integrity.

We aim to support patients to return to their usual residence wherever possible.
