Sister Charge Nurse role responsible for ensuring high standards of patient care, leadership, and operational oversight in the Pre Assessment department.
Responsibilities
- Clinical Leadership and Care Delivery
- Provide hands‑on clinical care, acting as a senior point of support for complex or deteriorating patients.
- Coordinate daily clinical activity, ensuring safe staffing levels, skill mix, and continuity of care.
- Promote high standards of nursing practice through supervision, coaching, and role modelling.
- Staff Management and Team Support
- Allocate and supervise staff during shifts, ensuring responsibilities are clearly defined.
- Support development, appraisal, and competency assessment of junior nurses, HCAs, and students.
- Contribute to induction and ongoing development of new staff.
- Governance and Patient Safety
- Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation in line with NMC and organisational standards.
- Promote compliance with infection prevention, medication safety, safeguarding, and other clinical governance priorities.
- Report and support investigations of incidents, complaints, and near misses.
- Communication and Multidisciplinary Working
