Lead and support the baking team in our artisan bakery.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee daily production of bread, pastries and other baked goods, ensuring consistently high standards of quality, taste and presentation while meeting agreed production schedules.
  • Lead, motivate and develop a team of bakers through clear direction, hands-on support, regular briefings and constructive feedback to drive performance and continuous improvement.
  • Actively participate in the full baking process including preparation, mixing, shaping, proofing and baking, and ensure strict adherence to recipes, traditional methods and food-safety standards.
  • Manage operational efficiency by monitoring workflow, resolving production or equipment issues promptly, and maintaining a clean, well-organised bakery in compliance with health and safety regulations.
  • Support the wider success of the bakery through effective stock control, ingredient management, equipment care, and involvement in recruitment, onboarding and training of new team members.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in a bakery or food-production environment with a solid understanding of artisan bread and pastry techniques.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to supervise and motivate a team of bakers.
  • Organised, efficient and able to manage production schedules and workflows effectively.
  • Passionate about quality baking and committed to maintaining the highest standards.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations, food-safety standards and best practices in bakery hygiene.
  • Proactive in problem-solving and able to manage challenges during production.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to work well as part of a team.

Workplace Location: Brassmill Ln, Bath BA1 3JN

Hours: 45 hours per week, any five days out of seven.

Shift: 5:00 pm – 2:00 am.

Pay: £15.70 per hour.
