About the Role
We’re looking for a Customer Service Assistant to join our team at One Stop, a subsidiary of Tesco. You will work in a fast‑paced retail environment where no day is the same, playing an important role in the day‑to‑day operations of our store activities by providing excellent customer service, stocking shelves, processing payments, and helping maintain the store’s appearance.
Responsibilities
- Provide outstanding customer service, ensuring the customer is at the heart of everything you do.
- Stock shelves, process payments at the tills, and maintain the store’s appearance.
- Support all store areas, including online orders, replenishment, vending, and stock routines.
- Use on‑the‑job coaching and feedback to improve service quality continuously.
- Encourage customers to complete the “Have Your Say” survey and use their feedback to enhance the shopping experience.
- Follow safety training and company policies, including wearing safety equipment and using security procedures.
- Follow the Think 25 policy when serving age‑restricted products.
- Respond quickly to assistance calls or interventions on self‑service check‑outs and explain procedures to customers.
- Keep the store clean, tidy, and organised, ensuring aisles remain clear of congestion.
- Take part in seasonal, community, and charity events to create an inclusive atmosphere.
- Monitor store performance, understand your contribution to profit, and work with colleagues to improve results.
- Prepare to run the shift in the absence of the Shift Leader or Store Manager.
- Maintain accurate clock‑in and clock‑out records to ensure correct payment for hours worked.
- When a store has a Post Office Local, undertake day‑to‑day Post Office operations and must pass the required financial and criminal conviction background check.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Must be able to pass a Post Office financial and criminal conviction background check if required.
- Must accurately clock in and out and follow all safety and security procedures.
- Flexible to work varying hours, including evenings, weekends, and public holidays.
- Strong communication skills and ability to work as part of a team.
