Job Overview

We are seeking a certified nurse or paramedic to provide healthcare to detainees within the criminal justice system. The role involves delivering high‑quality care in custody suites, working flexible shift patterns, and ensuring the safety of detainees around the clock.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver healthcare to detainees in custody suites and an assigned region.
  • Work within a team rota: 2‑day shifts on, 8 days off, 2 nights, 4 days off.
  • Shift times: Day 06:45‑19:00; Night 18:45‑07:00.
  • Manage a range of clinical situations under pressure.
  • Participate in mandatory police vetting and maintain required certifications.

Qualifications

  • Registered nurse (RN), registered general nurse (RGN), or registered mental nurse (RMN) with dual registration; minimum 2 years post‑qualification.
  • Band 5 minimum.
  • Valid UK driving licence.
  • Right to work in the UK (passport or ILR with 3 years residency, no gaps out of country longer than 3 months).
  • Police vetting required.

Experience

  • Minimum two years post‑qualification in a patient‑facing role.
  • Experience in Accident & Emergency, General Practice, Emergency Medicine, Acute Medicine, prison healthcare, or ambulance service.

Compensation

Base salary £20,500 per year with a £500 bonus after completing 12 months of service. Estimated overtime pay £3,500 per annum. NMC/HCPC registration fees are covered.

Working Hours

The role offers full‑time or part‑time schedules with flexibility to work across assigned regions. Fixed shift patterns are contractually agreed.
