Are you a recently qualified Occupational Therapist looking to embark on a rewarding career, where you are supported in everything you do? If so, join The Spinney in Atherton on a Fixed term contract to cover maternity leave for 6-9 months. This post is a part time position for 30 hours per week. Working alongside a dedicated team you will be working at medium and low secure services providing specialist treatment programmes for service users who have been detained under the Mental Health Act (1983) and have a history of offending behaviour. You will be a part of an environment that has a strong emphasis on teamwork and will enjoy hands‑on experience, receiving guidance and supervision from experienced healthcare professionals. Responsibilities

  • Under supervision, responsible for planning and facilitating evidence‑based group and individual programmes.
  • Create individual rapport with service users to empower recovery.
  • Providing comprehensive OT assessments.
  • Planning and reviewing OT treatment programmes.
  • Identifying and actioning referrals both in‑house and to external agencies.
  • Supporting the planning, evaluation, and audit of practices, clinical pathways and protocols at The Spinney.
  • Maintaining contemporaneous, written and electronic records and activity data following professional and services standards.

Qualifications

  • A Diploma/Degree in Occupational Therapy.
  • UK HCPC registration or applied for.
  • Evidence of ability to research, plan, implement and evaluate a project for specific groups.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.

You will be working at The Spinney, a service which offers a range of care settings for male patients with personality disorder and/or mental illness. The purpose‑built medium, low secure and rehabilitation wards, as well as a psychiatric intensive care unit (PICU) are all set within an 11 acre site with extensive woodland and landscaped areas. You will be working alongside a multidisciplinary team at The Spinney who have previously been recognised by the Association of Psychological Therapies (APT) for their ability to reinforce positive behaviour, prevention of challenging behaviour and successful interventions in a secure care setting. All candidates will be subject to a DBS disclosure.
