At Cygnet Hospital Taunton, a new 15‑bed neuro‑cognitive service provides comprehensive, long‑term inpatient care for older adults with complex cognitive, neurological and psychiatric conditions. The role supports the Neurocognitive Health Pathway, aiming to improve quality of life and functionality for patients with challenging presentations.
Role and Responsibilities
- Assess speech, communication, language, and eating, drinking and swallowing needs for a specialist caseload.
- Deliver input aligned with the Cygnet SLT pathway.
- Support multidisciplinary team initiatives.
- Provide high‑quality supervision and CPD.
- Contribute to large‑scale projects.
- Play a part in service development and quality improvement initiatives.
Successful candidates will undergo enhanced DBS and reference checks.
Qualifications
- Degree/Postgraduate Diploma in Speech and Language Therapy or equivalent.
- Registration with HCPC and membership of the RCSLT.
- Competence to independently assess and manage EDS needs.
- Experience with older adults, neurology or neuro‑degenerative conditions.
- Understanding of Positive Behaviour Support and person‑centred planning.
- Strong team player with a genuine desire to help others.
- Excellent communication and time‑management skills.
