A permanent part-time position of 17 hours per week, including alternate weekends, has arisen within the Laundry Department at Tameside General Hospital. This role offers a high-quality, flexible, and patient-focused service.

The position involves:

  • Sorting and processing soiled linen in accordance with infection control and health and safety guidelines.
  • Washing, drying, sorting, and packing patient clothing, staff uniforms, staff linen, and items belonging to external contractors.
  • Counting and bagging domestic mops and cloths in a timely manner to meet collection and delivery schedules.
  • Operating industrial washing and drying equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Carrying out quality checks on clean linen to ensure required standards are met.
  • Keeping laundry areas clean and tidy at all times in line with trust cleaning standards.
  • Checking, counting, sorting, and packing deliveries received from external laundry contractors.
  • Recording daily linen issues to wards and departments accurately.
  • Undertaking ward and departmental stock checks and adjusting delivery quantities as required.
  • Documenting quantities of linen, mops, and cloths processed.
