About Us
Cygnet Health Care was established in 1988 as an independent provider of health and social care services in England, Scotland and Wales. This role is based at Cygnet Taunton, Somerset (TA3 7BQ). The hospital is located in a rural countryside setting with scenic grounds and close to the historic market town of Taunton, which offers shops, entertainment and good transport links.
Your Role
This full‑time post is within a newly created Neuro‑cognitive healthcare service based in a 15‑bed ward. It involves service development, establishing new practices and interdisciplinary working, and long‑term patient care for adults with complex cognitive and neurological conditions, often with psychiatric sequelae. The post offers some flexibility provided patient needs are met.
Summary of the Site
The neuro‑cognitive service will provide adults with acquired cognitive disorders, neurological difficulties and often associated mental health support needs to access the best possible care and rehabilitation, to optimise their functional independence and quality of life. This role requires flexibility and creativity when designing and delivering treatment interventions and the ability to motivate patients. The staff team includes a manager, a head of care, registered nurses, support workers, SLT, OT, consultant psychiatrist, consultant psychologist, dietitian and physio. The service offers 15 beds for adult patients. Patients are discussed by the full MDT prior to admission to ensure their complex care needs can be met. The on‑site physiotherapist supports service development, provides clinical supervision to team members, and mentors physiotherapy students in line with CSP physiotherapy framework guidance. There are opportunities for additional training and job enrichment. The physiotherapy department offers peer support, training and CPD through an education and development forum and access to expertise across Cygnet regions.
