Wrightington, Wigan & Leigh NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a Senior Healthcare Support Worker to join their Enhanced Care Unit (ECU). This role involves providing holistic, high-quality care to orthopaedic patients at increased risk of adverse outcomes. The ECU is a 6-bedded post-operative unit offering advanced care for patients post-surgery.
The position requires working 24 hours per week with various shifts available, including day and night shifts. Experience in a UK healthcare/NHS role is essential, along with either Health & Social Care Level 2 NVQ or Care Certificate.
As a Healthcare Support Worker, you will:
- Assist patients with personal hygiene and during meal times.
- Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the multidisciplinary team.
- Support moving and handling, use of mobility aids, and assess pressure areas.
- Maintain confidentiality and report any concerns regarding patient wellbeing.
- Participate in health promotion and support individuals who are distressed.
- Undertake clinical activities as directed by a Registered Health Care Professional.
- Maintain a clean environment and assist in blood collection.
- Provide sensitive information concerning a patient’s medical condition.
- Act in accordance with all organisational policies and procedures.
Key responsibilities include:
