- Cheshire - £50,000 + Accommodation The Job: A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Herdsperson to join a progressive dairy farm.
The role is based within an Autumn calving herd of approximately 320 milking cows, plus followers, and would suit an experienced individual who enjoys taking responsibility for herd management, staff organisation and day to day dairy operations.
The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting the day to day running of the herd and leading a small team.
Key responsibilities:
- Day to day herd management
- Grassland management
- Maintaining high standards of animal health and welfare
- Foot trimming
- AI experience is desirable The Company: The farm is a well run, modern dairy unit with high-quality facilities, including a 24/48 Waikato herringbone parlour, ACRs and automated drafting.
The herd is milked twice daily, with an average yield of approximately 7,500 litres.
There is a strong focus on animal welfare, alongside excellent opportunities to get involved in grassland management and make a real contribution to the ongoing development of the farm.
The Candidate:
- Minimum 4 years' herdsperson experience
- Experience managing a team
- Full UK driving licence
- Right to work in the UK
- Ability to reliably relocate to or commute to the area
- This is an in person, full-time, permanent position The Package:
- Excellent 4 bedroom family house provided with the role
- Family friendly location with good schools and local amenities
- Accommodation situated on school bus routes
- Long term, permanent position within an established dairy operation
Candidate Requirements All applicants must hold a minimum of an NVQ Level 2, Scottish NVQ Level 2, or an equivalent qualification relevant to the role applied for.
Candidates must also have the legal right to work in the UK or hold a valid visa permitting employment.
