About Jack
Jack is a happy, chilled‑out 10‑year‑old with a big smile and a real love of being out and about. He has dyskinetic cerebral palsy and epilepsy, uses a wheelchair full time, and is non‑verbal. He is currently learning how to communicate through eye‑gaze technology. His favourite activities are swings, swimming, and riding his adapted trike. He lights up around people who are warm, playful, and properly engaged with him.
About the Role
We are looking for someone reliable, enthusiastic, and genuinely interested in being part of Jack’s world. This is not a sit‑and‑supervise role. Jack thrives when he is active, stimulated, and treated as the sweet, active kid he is, so we want someone who will bring energy and ideas to his days. You'll join a small, supportive team around Jack and work closely with us as parents. We are an open, friendly household and we want the same back: someone who communicates well, takes initiative, and feels comfortable being part of family life.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Supporting Jack with personal care, including nappies, showering, and feeding
- Getting him out and about: park visits, swimming, trike rides, sensory play, and other activities that spark his interest
- Cooking simple, healthy meals for Jack and his younger sister
- Basic cleaning and tidying up after Jack and his sister
- Integrating Jack’s physio and speech therapy plans into everyday activities
- Accompanying appointments when needed
- Helping with day trips and occasional family travel
- Being a positive presence in a busy household with a 5‑year‑old sibling and two friendly dogs
Who We’re Hoping to Find
- Warm, patient, and fun
- Dependable and trustworthy, with good judgement
- Proactive and organised, happy to use initiative
- Comfortable as part of a team and at ease in a family setting
- Genuinely interested in making a difference, not just clocking hours
Previous experience with children with complex needs is welcome but not essential. Attitude and reliability matter more to us than a specific CV.
What You’ll Need
- Right to work in the UK
- Full, clean UK driving licence and your own car
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to obtain one – we’ll help with this)
- Flexibility to travel with the family occasionally
Why This Role
Working with Jack is genuinely rewarding. You’ll see real progress, share in lovely moments, and become part of a family that values and looks after the people around us. We pay fairly, communicate openly, and treat our team well.
