We’re a friendly, energetic family in Alderley Edge looking for a reliable, upbeat, and proactive nanny/support worker to join our team and support our 10‑year‑old son, Jack. Jack has dyskinetic cerebral palsy and epilepsy and is a full‑time wheelchair user. He’s non‑verbal, but expressive, funny, and full of character. He’s currently learning to communicate using eye‑gaze technology and absolutely loves being out and about on swings, swimming, bike rides on his adapted trike, and anything that feels like a proper childhood adventure. This role is about helping Jack live life to the full, not just looking after him. We’re keen to find someone who brings energy, initiative, and a positive mindset, and who genuinely enjoys helping children experience the world. You’ll be joining a warm, friendly household with a 5‑year‑old sibling, friendly dogs, and parents who value teamwork, openness, and a sense of humour.
The Role Responsibilities will include:
- Supporting Jack with daily routines, including personal care (nappies and showering)
- Getting stuck into activities and outings: parks, swimming, sensory play, and days out
- Helping Jack engage with physiotherapy and speech therapy programmes in everyday life
- Preparing simple, healthy meals for the children
- Attending appointments and activities as needed
- Supporting family routines and being happy to pitch in where required
- Occasional travel and day trips with the family
Who we’re looking for: you don’t need formal care experience; the right attitude matters far more. Experience with children, energy, and reliability are key. We’d love to hear from you if you’re:
- Consistently reliable and take responsibility seriously
- Naturally positive, upbeat, and enthusiastic
- Proactive and able to use your initiative
- Patient, kind, and calm under pressure
- Organised and comfortable juggling different tasks
- A team player who enjoys working closely with a family
Essential Requirements/Key Responsibilities:
- Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one)
- Full, clean UK driving licence and access to your own car
- Right to work in the UK
- Willingness to travel with the family occasionally
- Meal preparation, personal care, social leisure activities, transportation, full UK driving license, own personal car, medical safe, administration of medication, continence care, epilepsy awareness
