We are currently looking for an enthusiastic individual to join our A&E reception team. Applicants should be excellent communicators with good telephone skills and have the ability to deal with the general public on a daily basis with a positive approach to customer care. The role involves providing reception support to the clinical team within the A&E Department. A good standard of IT skills and the ability to work on your own initiative and as part of a team are essential. Flexibility is required as the service operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week; you will be required to work shift patterns that include days, evenings and nights. Unsociable hours over weekends, Bank Holidays and hours worked between 8:00pm – 6:00am will receive enhancement payments.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a welcoming and professional first impression for patients/Healthcare Professionals at the A&E reception desk, both face-to-face and via telephone, ensuring an excellent customer service experience.
  • Act as the first point of contact for enquiries in person, by phone or by email, and deal with enquiries in a professional, efficient, polite and courteous manner.
  • Provide full clerical support to the A&E Department teams within the Hospital.
  • Work as part of a team and without direct supervision to ensure the smooth running of the reception service.
  • Provide administrative cover across all reception desks within A&E and Same Day Emergency Care.
  • Work flexible shift patterns to cover days, evenings and nights as required by a 24/7 service.

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Good interpersonal and communication skills; able to deal professionally with a wide range of people.
  • Excellent IT skills and the ability to work using own initiative and within a team.
  • Willingness to work flexible shift patterns, including weekends and nights.
