UHBW endoscopy department provides a range of services including endoscopic mucosal resection, submucosal dissection, treatment of Barrett’s, stricture dilation, ablative therapy, and tertiary biliary endoscopy such as ERCP, cholangioscopy and EUS. The fellowship aims to increase endoscopy experience while allowing ongoing participation in other specialty training and may be eligible for OOP‑T status.
Responsibilities
- Attend two dedicated endoscopy training lists per week and one to two sessions per week for research or ad‑hoc training.
- Provide backfill service to free local SpRs, covering outpatient clinics, ward, and inpatient outreach.
- Contribute to the on‑call endoscopy rota under direct supervision of the endoscopy consultant.
- Organise and deliver endoscopy training within UHBW and regionally, including the Bristol Endoscopy Training Collaborative courses for upper‑GI haemostasis and colonic polypectomy.
- Report to the clinical supervisor and be accountable to the trust’s responsible officer.
Requirements
- Eligible for OOP‑T status and able to count towards clinical training (subject to OOPT application and SAC approval).
- Must have approval from the Training Programme Director; evidence of support must be provided.
- Available to start on Tuesday 8 September 2026 and able to commit to a 12‑month fellowship (full‑time or less than full‑time).
Additional Information
The fellow will gain experience across multiple UHBW sites, with most sessions expected in Bristol. This advert closes on Wednesday 6 May 2026.
